Description

Synopsis

This full-day course will introduce participants to eight of the most important orthodontic principles used by specialists for decades. Dentists currently or considering treating patients with aligners will especially benefit. Aligner companies tend to “oversimplify” and “oversell” their product, and as a result, some dentists have avoidable difficulty with aligner cases. This course will include many examples from actual cases but does not teach detailed chairside techniques. This is an excellent introductory course for the doctor who is considering adding limited or comprehensive orthodontics to his practice.

After completing this course participants will benefit by:

  • Improving communication with your orthodontist and your patients considering orthodontic treatment.
  • Better understanding which cases are appropriate candidates for orthodontic care.
  • Knowing how the orthodontist decides between extraction, non-extraction and surgery treatment plans.
  • Knowing how soft tissue profile, facial type and tooth position affect diagnosis and treatment.
  • Understanding how force and anchorage decisions are made for success.
  • Knowing what factors affect the success and stability of post-treatment retention.
  • Understanding which cases are best treated with conventional orthodontics, which are better treated with aligners and which need both.
  • Improving case selection for aligner cases and knowing which cases are not appropriate.
  • Learning how many principles relate closely to restorative cases and can increase success with those cases.
